An Even Nicer Way To Receive A Deposit

 It's always good to get a booking but there is something really nice when guests don't just send the deposit cheque in an envelope but send  it in a lovely card.

Looking Back Over The Glorious Summer

 Well at last we had a real summer and it lasted so long too. It was wonderful  to be able to go out without having to wear lots of layres of clothes. Apparently it was the best summer for 7 years!!! I only hope we don't have to wait that long again. The feel good factor throughout Llandudno was palpable. Businesses from shops,cafes to the suppliers of all the accommodation providers all felt the benefit of an increase in tourism due to the weather.

 The garden at Lymehurst definitely enjoyed the summer weather and seemed to suddenly erupt into a mass of colour. Insect,having taken a battering during the spring time lept into life and it was wonderful to have  so many butterflies and bees in the garden.

The poppies choose where to flower and add such a burst of colour throughout the garden at Lymehurst B & B ......and best of all they are free!!

Happy Event

Since the Honey Fair back in September my niece and Australian husband had a Service of  Blessing in her home town of Conwy. This enabled all relatives and friends to celebrate their marriage too. The weather couldn't have been better that weekend. On the Sunday we'd planned to have a buffet for relatives before they departed home. (That is a plus point of having a bigger property as I offered to hold the buffet  here at Lymehurst) As it was so sunny. we were actually able to have everybody sitting out in the garden. It was lovely to be able to sit outside and eat and chat in the sunshine.

Honey Galore

The variety of honey on sale at the Conwy Honey Fair was amazing. So many different  types,colours and  textures, it was hard to choose. Consequently I came home laden with jars of honey from different stalls

I had to restrict my self to 3 plants as I couldn't carry anymore! All I need to do now is dig my new front borders so I can plant them

Conwy Honey Fair September 13th 2013

 This is always such a popular event when the main street of the walled town of Conwy is closed off so local honey producers can set up their stalls to sell honey. A 700 year old Royal Charter permits this event........so it's been going on for quite a while!!

 Hand made toiletries using bees wax from Trees and Bees company www.treesandbees.me.uk. I bought some of their Beeswax moisturiser with essential oils.....smells divine.

As well as the honey stalls there were also hand made soaps, craft work, home bakes and plants.

The Garden at Lymehurst B & B, Llandudno

The garden at Lymehurst is as ever evolving (is this another way of saying I keep changing things around!!) As a trial and error gardener I often find that I plant things too close together never imagining just how much plants can spread or how tall they can grow.
As we had a long wet and cold spring I made these mistakes when creating a new front border. Suddenly when the  longed for  summer weather arrived the plants  almost exploded into growth and suddenly I had to remove some plants as they were being covered up by the others.

 This year the poppies popped had self seeded and were so beautifull i didn't move them till they'd finished flowering. The yellow flowers grew much taller than I thought so they will be moved but they all provided a lovely burst of colour in the front garden.

This year I bought a new bistro set in a lovely turquoise colour so that helps to brighten up the front sitting area. My next plan is to create a circular lawn that will then enable me to have 2 pull in places at the front for 2 small cars.

In the back garden it's just as well that I like the "unruly country Garden" look. Although it probably is rather crowded I just love all the different colours, textures and structures of the plants.

Where Has The Time Gone?

I can't believe that it was way back in June that I last wrote a blogg but that can only be a good thing as it suggests that I've been too busy to write.
 According to other people who have been in the hospitality business for a lot longer than me, last year was their worst year ever. A combination of the financial situation  and terrible weather conditions doomed many businesses and i must say things got a bit scary. So to have had an absolutely glorious summer with several weeks of good weather has certainly boosted trade. It has been said that this has been the best summer for 7 years. Let's hope it's not another 7 years till the next sunny summer.
