Knowing when it's high tide......easy now I have a Tide Clock!

My Tide Clock

I didn't know that Tide Clocks existed until a friend told me about them and then this Christmas I got one as a present. It's facinating that you can tell how long it is till the next high or low tide. To set it up we had to wait till it was a full moon, then look up the high tide for this area, point the hands to high tide put the battery in and that was it set up. So now I can judge which beach walk to go on. We had some really good blustery weather yesterday so after consulting the Tide Clock we thought Westshore beach would be the best walk so we coild see all the waves. The windy weather also brought out the kite surfers

Westshore attracts plenty of kite surfers when the conditions are right

Windy Weather Brings Action to West Shore

Another lovely day. Although rather windy I was still able to go in swimming again but had to keep close to the rocky groyne in order to avoid the choppy sea. After, as I was sipping my  hot chocolate the 'Sporty Brigade' started to appear attracted by the wind and waves.
Getting everything laid out
Then pumping up the frame

There is quite a lot of preparation before a kite surfer can set off. The kite frame is pumped up then the lines have to be unravelled and laid out on the sand
Kite ready......

Almost ready for take off but kite has to be turned over so it doesn't blow away while the lines are laid out along the sand

kite is launched and surfer has to get on his board

.......and then he's off

It's amazing how fast the wind / kite surfer's grapevine works. By the end of the afternoon there were about 10 kite surfers and 4 or 5 wind surfers and still more were arriving, At least this is a quiet sport unlike the jet skiers! Ileft them to it as I had to rush back to get into 'land lady ' mode as I had guests arriving about 5pm

A wintery walk on West Shore

Well i head back to Helsinki tomorrow so thought i would share some photos before i leave. Mum has said that once she has Christmas cleared up she will definitely be knuckling down to the blog, if not you might hear from me sooner
Today we went for a lovely walk along west shore to Deganwy.  It was sunny and blustery a very fresh a invigorating walk. Mum and i both love the fences used to protect the dunes.

Happy New Year

Hello,

Christmas this year has been crazy in a wonderful way. Mum had guests right up until Christmas so was slightly panicked when i arrived home on the 23rd. We spent Christmas day with my Auntie in Conwy and then we had them over on Boxing day. On the 27th the rest of the Family from Yorkshire arrived. We all had so Much fun, My Uncle David and Auntie Kathy run an antique business based in Starbeck. I think I might have persuaded my Uncle to start his own blog to share some of the wonderful photographs he has taken. I will keep you posted.
After the chaos of Christmas mum had a few days to relax before guests arrived on the 31st. So  there has been no time for this poor blog. But now it’s the new year and I thought I would give mum helping hand and share with you some of the sunset pictures we have taken at west shore.

It still amazes me that this beautiful beach is less than 10 minutes stroll away from where we live

Hope you all have a wonderful new year
