I Love My Garden.

Since owning my first home I have always enjoyed gardening, trying to make the most out of whatever outdoor space we had. and found it to be theraputic Each garden has had a pond or two no matter how small, as I think ponds help to attract even more wild life. When I moved into my parents' house in Harrogate I dug a small pond and had so much enjoyment sitting beside it that I then dug a much larger one, this, even in it's first season attracted frogs, newts dragon flies etc Unfortunately, I can only think that it is because our garden here is enclosed by walls that Istill have had no frogs  or newts even though the pond  must be about 4 years old now. However on a more positive note I do love this garden and how it is evolving and changing each year and has that "un tamed "look. These photos show the gradual progress and I will add more from this year in another blogg.

The Garden at Lymehurst..Changes Are Happening

The trellis starting to be erected
I have not been able to spend as much time in the garden as I would have liked but a few things have changed. I have had trellis put up to make the middle seating area more cosy and private (well it will be once the plants have grown!) My plan is to grow scented climbers up the trellis. I have never grown roses before  but I love the scent that they give off so I want to choose really perfumed varieties as well as honey suckles and jasmine. So any suggestions are welcome
Next section to be put up

The seating area now surrounded

More trellis along the walls

Archway now created

Wonderful Summer Guests

Di and Roy...colour co ordinated as ever

Lovely thank you gift left by my lovely memorable guests
It's been busy , busy , busy here at  www.lymehurstbandb.co.uk  but that's a good thing. Again I have had some lovely guests but two spring to mind. I had a couple stay for 13 nights, he was 90 she was 88. They drove up here from Somerset. What a wonderful positive, active couple they turned out to be. Here was I offering to set up the loungers in the garden but they didn't have time for that!! they were too busy travelling around calling on friends being out all day and only coming back for afternoon tea. They totally charmed all the other guests who stayed and were able to have interesting chats at breakfast time. One other guest even wanted to adopt them as his grandparents!.

How long is it since I wrote a Blogg!!!!!!!

Oh my goodness, I can't believe that it was way back in April that I last wrote anything. Up to date this has been my busiest year so far running Lymehurst B & B. I have been amazed at how many bookings have come in.  This has meant  that not only am I  way behind with the  Blogg but I have not even been able to  dig over and prepare my vegetable patch. I'm desperately trying to start off some courgette plants (two have sprouted so far!) and some leeks but whether they'll come to anything remains to be seen. As to the rest of the garden....thank goodness for self seeding flowers and my perennials they have put on a brilliant show so that anybody looking from the Breakfast Room might well be deceived into thinking that I have a well tended garden!!.
Could this be the start of better things to come? Are people feeling more confident about spending money? I just hope that business doesn't all dry up in the Autumn time.
