The Storms

My small green house and garden table took a barrering

Stones were thrown up over the promenade
Since December we have had some really wild storms that have caused damage along the coast line here in North Wales. These photos are from llandudno Bay taken on two separate occaisions. The tidal surge did much more damage on the west side  as the high tide  forced it's way up the Conwy estuary given even more destructive power by the on shore wind.
Promenade shelters filled with pebbles

Luckily the wind wasn't blowing into this bay  during this storm

High tide but no damage done

These photos show what destruction was caused on the Deganwy promenade

It looks like a bomb has hit it.......the damage that nature can cause

Re Roofing At Lymehurst

Lymehurst was built in the 1920s, 1924 to be exact. All the houses in the cul-de-sac were built for proffessional people working in the area at that time. So Lymehurst has certainly seen it's share of storms throughout the years. When I bought Lymehurst in 2007 the surveyor did warn me that the roof would need doing. The last two winters when we had really cold weather for a long period defintely had the effect of speeding up the de laminating of the tiles, so making them more porous to the rain and frost. So when more and more bits of tiles landed in the gutters I felt that I needed to take the bull by the horns and get the roof  re done. The added problem when you have a B&B is considering the loss of business it'll incur. Hence the decision to have the job done in January!! The weather has been really bad for the last couple of weeks, wind , rain and storms....worst possible weather for roofers. Now the scaffolding is up I'm hoping for better weather.

Lymehust B&B's Garden

The mild conditions we had in  November & December meant that we still had flowers in the garden and it was in November or December that I discovered we had some raspberries!! Seasons gone mad or what?

A More "Chilled Out" Way To Do Christmas Shopping

My guests left me a lovely Christmas card and present.
For the past three years I have had a guest who comes to stay at the end of November in order to do her Christmas Shopping. She has found that llandudno is just the place to shop, as it is not too big or too hectic and has  the benefit of being a stroll away from the promenade should she need a break. Then I have a couple who come on the weekend before Christmas to do their shopping. Again they find it far more relaxing than in the large cities where it is too crowded and there is too much choice.Coming to llandudno means that they can shop without getting stressed.
It's always lovely when guests tell you that they have enjoyed their stay so you feel that all the effort has been worth while and then when  they come  to stay again you know you must be doing it right. So it's a real bonus when on top of all that they leave a card and present too. Definitely leaves you with a feel good factor.

Hello 2014

I seem to have got swept up into doing Facebook posts rather than the blogg. I keep hearing that  a FB page is really important for a business but it does actually take up quite a bit of time. I will try to do a catch up now but you can always see whats been going on on www.facebook.com/lymehurstbandbllandudno.

There was a super Medieval Day in Conwy in December that culminated in the Torch Lit Parade through the town. There were so many re enactment groups that at times Conwy really did look as if it had stepped back in time It was very bizarre to come out of the toilets on Conwy Quay and see two Medieval knights exiting the mens toilets!
